Luxury Poolside Retreat Featuring Ipe Wood and ACM Cladding

This Kleinburg backyard renovation turned a two-year vision into reality. The homeowner wanted a sleek, modern retreat with bold contrasts against the light pool deck. Using Ipe wood, ACM cladding, and frameless glass railings, we built two custom decks and a cabana that maximize space, create a seamless poolside flow, and preserve stunning views of the conservation area.

  • Floating Ipe Rooftop Deck
    Built over a flat roof structure with full waterproofing below, creating a durable and elegant upper-level retreat.
  • Frameless Glass Railings
    Installed on both decks to preserve clear views of the conservation area and allow natural light into the home.
  • Modern ACM Cladding
    Used on posts, fascias, and the cabana’s rear wall for a sleek, architectural finish.
  • Custom Cabana with Fireplace
    Designed with an integrated fireplace beneath the TV, using cement board protection behind ACM cladding.

🛠 Materials Used in This Project

  • Decking & Accents: Ipe hardwood (floating deck, ceiling, and wall cladding)

  • Cladding: ACM panels (posts, fascias, and cabana wall)

  • Railings: Frameless glass system

  • Structural Support: Helical piles for reinforcement

  • Finishes: Accent tile feature wall and cement board protection behind the fireplace

⚙️ Challenges & Solutions

One of the main challenges was the strict zoning limitations, which required precise planning to ensure the decks were functional yet compliant. Additionally, during construction, the cabana began to sink due to an engineer’s oversight in placing a support post on disturbed soil.

Our team corrected this by jacking up the structure and installing a helical pile, permanently stabilizing the cabana and preventing future movement.

✅ Project Outcome

The finished project transformed this Kleinburg backyard into a modern outdoor oasis. The rich Ipe wood contrasts beautifully with the bold ACM cladding, while the frameless glass railings highlight the natural views.

The cabana, complete with a fireplace and entertainment wall, extends the living space outdoors in style. This project balances luxury, functionality, and durability, giving the homeowner a stunning backyard retreat that can be enjoyed year-round.
